GeoMarkr
Digital video, 22 minutes, French & English language, 2022
Bring[ing] together the inquisitive and quirky sensibilities of Chloé Galibert-Laîné, who is by now a veteran of the form, with the more sober reflections of video game scholar, Guillaume Grandjean, [… this essay inherits] both Chris Marker’s playful eye and his incisive cultural critique.
Alisa Lebow (Reader in Film Studies at the University of Sussex)
A playful exercise on playfulness, [exploring] the brilliant art of the meta video essay.
Ricardo Vieira Lisboa (Film critic and Programmer at IndieLisboa)
A solid and lovely piece, charming in its mix of direct cinema via game play; a player’s reflections; a critical narrator; and, finally, cannily placed clips from a range of Chris Marker films. […] The dialogic nature of scholarship is laid bare here, and the conversation is stimulating and often conflicting, giving the whole piece a real sense of multivocality even as it is completely coherent.
Virginia Kuhn (Professor of Cinema at the University of Southern California)
